AGM 2012
1. Rule Changes
As per the constitution (find it under the Information menu), any member can make Proposals for constitution or rule changes but they must be received by the Secretary, in writing, at least 7 days prior to the AGM. Rules may only be amended at the AGM, by a majority vote of the members present.
Anybody want to propose a rule to change the minimum number of players to register a team from 4 to 3? Just a thought ...

2. Election of Officers
All current committee members will be standing for next seasons positions (assuming no late changes), however we would like to hear from any members if they would like to become more actively involved with the MKCSL and become a committee member *tup**yes*. We are always keen to hear if someone has the time to devote to attending committee meetings where we can get their input on issues such as Presentation Night, League Format, Tournaments, One Day Tournaments, Handicap Setting, Inter League matches etc.:)

If anyone is thinking about it, please let us know.

3. Introduction of a handicapped league
Based upon member feedback, it is the committee's plan to propose rule changes that will enable the introduction of a new handicapped league as follows:

* The new handicapped league will run alongside the existing league, on a Monday evening.
* The handicaps will be as set by the committee. Players without handicaps will play off scratch.
* Handicaps will be automatically updated weekly, based upon players results, so player handicaps will settle and become very accurate over the season. Any handicaps that are obviously very wrong will be reviewed by the handicap secretary and adjusted if necessary. For a full explanation of the handicap calculation see here:www.mkcsl.co.uk/downloads.php?cat_id=3&download_id=72
* It is important to realise that this does not affect the current league directly, which will remain the same format as last season.

Assuming that the change is voted for by the members, this will give the members the option of playing in the type of league that they want.

It is also hoped that introducing a handicapped league will remove the 'I'm not good enough to play in a league' argument that some non league players often speak of. It should also make higher handicapped players games more interesting and much closer in some matches.
Although not expected for the coming season, it is hoped that a handicapped league may open the doors to some new players.

Although the scratch league will remain the same, it's important to realise that teams playing in the handicapped league won't be able to play in the scratch league as we are running it on the same evening. This means that the scratch league will become smaller, with less teams. If there is a call for teams and/or players playing in both the scratch and handicapped league's then this is something that could be addressed by moving the evening it will be played on - however that is not the intention for the first year.
Assuming that half the teams play handicapped, and half scratch, then this will result in roughly 15 teams in each league.
Until we know the numbers, it's difficult to determine exactly the league/divisional structure that will be settled upon, but there are a few members that have recently aired the view that they would like larger divisions. This may be something that the committee does, or it may not. In a handicapped league, divisions are unimportant as all teams have an equal chance so should all play each other.

We could end up with:

Scratch
Premier - 15 or so teams

Handicap - 15 or so teams

Or something entirely different!

Your thoughts are most welcome and I look forward to reading them in the forum!
