This years AGM will be held on Wednesday 24th June 2009 at the Herald Snooker Club at 8.00pm.
May I remind each team that under last years rule change, if your team is not in attendance of this meeting, then your team will start with a 15 point penalty next season!
If anyone has any ideas for rule changes or otherwise, then please let us know.
Some of the things we will be doing/discussing at this seasons AGM include: Click read more ....
Election of committee members.
Rule change proposals (these are rough notes and final ideas will be drafted before the AGM):
1). League match postponements, due to far too many postponements this season (33 if I remember correctly, which is ridiculous):
3 ideas were put forward for this:
1. Ban all postponements
2. Replay any postponed matches the same week, using the same result submission deadline of Friday night.
3. Penalise cancelling teams pending an appeal, in case of extenuating circumstances.
In case of options 2 or 3, the Fixture Secretary MUST be notified of the postponement at least 24 hours in advance of the original fixture. Any appeals must be submitted by the following Friday (when the result deadline would have been) & this must be answered within seven days.
2). A fee should be charged for entry into the billiards and scratch singles tournaments. Currently these are free, but this encourages players to enter for the sake of it when they do not really have any intention of playing, creating lots of unnecessary Bye's in the first rounds.
3). Tournament winners should be given free entry to the respective tournament the following season, excluding Plate and one day tournaments. For doubles, the pairings must remain the same for the entry to be waived.
4). If the duration of a tournament match is in doubt, then the duration agreed at the beginning of the match should stand.
5). For any one situation, foul and a miss shall only be called twice unless the player blatantly does not attempt to hit a ball on. Missing the ball on a third attempt shall just be a foul.
